Chapter 3: The Spark of Ruin
The instant the heavy hospital door clicked shut, the silence of the room settled over me. I calmly pressed the nurse call button, requesting absolute privacy and no visitors. Twenty minutes later, the door opened again, and my brother Leo strode into the room.
Leo wasn't just my older brother; he was a shark in a three-piece tailored suit. As the senior litigation partner at Sinclair & Black, he managed our family's massive, multi-generational trust and every complex corporate structure Dominic foolishly believed he owned outright.
Leo read the divorce paperwork once, his razor-sharp eyes scanning the legalese before snapping his gaze up to me. “He filed this through the company counsel.”
“I know,” I replied softly, rocking Grace.
“That violates a dozen conflict-of-interest rules and breaches his fiduciary duty,” Leo muttered, pacing the small room. “He also listed the penthouse, the company shares, and the lake house as marital property. The sheer arrogance of this guy.”
I looked down at Grace's tiny fingers, which were now tightly wrapped around my index finger. “They aren't marital property. They belong to Sinclair Holdings.”

Leo's jaw tightened, a dangerous muscle ticking in his cheek. He stopped pacing and looked at me, a dark promise in his eyes. “Give me the word. What do you want me to do to him?”
“Nothing dramatic,” I replied, my voice remarkably steady. “Not yet. Let him think he's already won. I want him at the absolute height of his ego before we pull the floor out from under him.”
