Chapter 1: The Crumbling Façade
Sirens wailed in the distance, cutting through the serene quiet of the country club estate. Inside the bridal suite, the atmosphere was suffocating. Camille stood frozen in her custom lace gown, the reality of the situation finally fracturing her carefully constructed composure. Two estate security guards flanked the heavy oak doors, their expressions stoic, while a paramedic carefully checked Ruth’s vitals and examined the bruising on her neck.
“Owen, you have to listen to me,” Camille pleaded, her voice trembling as she took a step toward him. “Nolan set this up. He manipulated the paperwork. I was just trying to figure it out when your mother attacked me.”

Owen didn’t flinch. He stood firmly between his mother and the woman he was supposed to marry in less than an hour. “Save it for the police, Camille.”
When the local authorities finally breached the suite, the pristine illusion of the wedding was completely shattered. Handcuffs clicked coldly over the delicate lace sleeves of Camille’s dress. As the officers read her Miranda rights, Owen pulled out his phone. He dialed Nolan Price’s number. It went straight to voicemail. His best friend—the man who was supposed to be standing beside him at the altar—was already running.
