The following week, Camille launched a counter-offensive. She appeared on a daytime talk show, wearing a modest beige sweater, weeping without tears. She claimed Owen was controlling, that Ruth was deeply unwell, and that the financial anomalies were Owen’s doing.
“I was framed,” Camille told the camera. “Nolan and Owen were embezzling. I found out, and when I confronted his mother, she attacked me to keep me quiet.”

In the Bennett boardroom, the executives watched the broadcast in stunned silence. Owen turned off the television. “Let her dig her grave,” he told his team. “She’s trying to force us into a public mudslinging match to distract the SEC. We stay focused on the Caymans. Vargas, tell me we have a location on Nolan.”
Vargas nodded. “He’s not in the Bahamas. He bounced his IP address to make it look that way. He’s in Miami. Waiting for a charter plane.”
