Panic is a predictable emotion. It makes arrogant people sloppy.
Arthur intercepted a frantic phone call from Margaret Holloway to an unlisted number in Sinaloa, Mexico. We listened to the audio playback over the diner's speakers.
"The money is gone!" Margaret shrieked into the phone, her aristocratic poise completely shattered. "I don't know who she is! Just a diner cook, but she wiped the accounts! You have to help us! Send your people to Chicago!"
A cold, gravelly voice answered in heavily accented English. "You lost our money, Margaret. You do not demand our help. You have twelve hours to return the funds, or we will butcher your son in front of you."
