"Clean this up," I told Elias, stepping over the bodies. "I want the mess gone, but keep their tactical radios and weapons. We are going to send Grant a message."
By dawn, the bodies were dissolved and disposed of in an industrial incinerator Elias had access to across town. We packed the mercenaries' bloodied tactical vests, shattered rifles, and a single, pristine apple cobbler into a wooden shipping crate.
