The firefight in the garage was brutal, but the sicarios were dead. Marcus was nursing a graze on his shoulder, and the safehouse was compromised, but Hannah was safe.
The sun rose on the third day. The seventy-two-hour deadline had arrived.
My burner phone rang. It was Grant.
"You crazy bitch," he sobbed into the phone. The polished billionaire was gone; in his place was a terrified boy. "The cartel is outside my gates. They are going to kill us. Give me the money back! I'll give Hannah a divorce! I'll give her the house! Just give me the money back!"
"You gave me three days, Grant," I whispered into the receiver. "I told you that was your biggest mistake."
