Chapter 15: Prime Time Takedown

Chapter 15: Prime Time Takedown
The morning sun washed over the Manhattan skyline, but inside the high-tech studio of a major national television network, the atmosphere was clinical and tense. A battery of production lights beamed down on a sleek interview set.
Eleanor Vance sat poised in an emerald green blazer that matched the memory of the dress she had worn the night her daughter was terrorized. She wasn't wearing a heavy layer of studio makeup, nor did she look nervous. She looked like what she was: a master strategist preparing to checkmate an empire.
Across from her sat Marcus Vance, the network’s premier investigative anchor, known for dismantling corrupt politicians and corporate titans with a single question.
"We are live in five, four, three..." the floor manager whispered, pointing a finger.
"Good morning," Marcus began, looking straight into the camera lens before turning to Eleanor. "My guest today is Eleanor Vance, senior partner at Sterling, Vance & Hastings, and the woman at the center of the largest corporate corruption scandal of the decade. Ms. Vance, let’s go back to where this all started. The internet saw a viral video of a shattered champagne tower and a frightened child. But you saw something entirely different."
Eleanor offered a calm, measured smile. "Thank you for having me, Marcus. What the public saw on that video was a snapshot of arrogance. But arrogance is rarely isolated. When a man believes his wealth exempts him from basic human decency, it almost always means he believes it exempts him from the law entirely."
"You filed a fifty-million-dollar defamation suit against Julian Pierce," Marcus noted, leaning forward. "And within forty-eight hours, that civil suit unlocked documents that led the SEC and the Manhattan District Attorney to launch a full-scale criminal investigation into Vanguard Tech. Talk us through that transition."
"It was remarkably straightforward," Eleanor replied smoothly, her voice carrying across millions of television screens nationwide. "Mr. Pierce attempted to use corporate funds—money stolen directly from the hardworking investors who trusted him—to pay for his lavish wedding, his personal debts, and the very PR firm he hired to smear a seven-year-old child. When you pull a single thread on a tapestry of greed, the entire fraudulent structure tends to unravel."
"And what about the smear campaign?" Marcus asked. "His team painted you as an extortionist looking for a quick payday."
Eleanor’s eyes locked directly into the camera lens, speaking not just to the host, but to every high-society enabler and corporate bully watching across the country.

"Men like Julian Pierce rely on intimidation because they are fundamentally weak," Eleanor stated, her tone absolute and unyielding. "They believe that a single mother can be silenced with tabloids or threatened into submission. They are wrong. This was never about a broken glass tower. It was about accountability. I simply ensured that the bills came due."
Across the city, in a heavily curtained penthouse apartment, a broken man sat watching the broadcast on a muted television set. Julian Pierce stared at the screen, his face gaunt, his eyes hollow, watching the woman he had tried to destroy systematically dismantle his entire legacy in front of the entire world.
