Before Julian was transferred via federal transport to a maximum-security federal correctional facility in upstate New York to begin serving his sentence, Eleanor Vance visited him one final time in the courthouse holding room.
The heavy steel door clicked shut behind her. Julian sat at a bolted metal table, his hands cuffed to an iron loop in the center. He looked up slowly, his eyes bloodshot and lifeless, staring at the woman who had systematically taken apart his entire world.
"Why?" Julian croaked, his voice cracking with exhaustion. "It was just a stupid wedding table, Eleanor. Why did you have to destroy everything?"
Eleanor stood on the other side of the table, her posture rigid, her expression carved from absolute ice. She buttoned her designer coat with slow, deliberate precision.

"You wanted a scapegoat, Julian," she said softly, her voice echoing off the concrete walls with terrifying clarity. "I just made sure the right animal went to the slaughter. Next time you want to play God, make sure you aren't standing in front of the Devil."
She turned on her heel, her heels clicking rhythmically against the floor as she walked out of the room, leaving the broken billionaire entirely alone in the dark.
