Chapter 14: The Homecoming
Three weeks after Isabella Rossi was remanded to federal custody and Leo’s lungs proved their resilience, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit finally discharged the newest member of the Thorne family.
It was a crisp, clear autumn afternoon when Marcus and Khloe walked through the grand double doors of their estate in the Hamptons. The sprawling oceanfront property, which had felt hollow and haunted by the echoes of anxiety during Khloe’s bed rest, was now alive with warmth and anticipation.
A sleek, custom white bassinet sat in the center of the nursery, draped in Italian linen and surrounded by soft toys. But Khloe didn't head straight for the nursery. Instead, Marcus guided her gently onto the rear terrace overlooking the crashing Atlantic waves.
"How does it feel?" Marcus asked softly, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder.
Khloe cradled tiny Leo against her chest, the baby sleeping soundly in a cozy knit blue onesie. She inhaled the crisp ocean air, feeling the profound, unshakeable peace settle deep into her bones.
"It feels like we finally woke up from a nightmare," Khloe whispered, turning her head to press a gentle kiss to Marcus’s cheek. "The house feels like a home again."

Marcus smiled, tightening his embrace. "It always was, sweetheart. But now, it’s complete."
They stood together on the terrace as the sun dipped toward the horizon, painting the sky in breathtaking strokes of amber and gold—the very colors that had once spelled danger in a hospital suite, but now represented a brilliant, unbroken dawn.
