When the dust settled, Leo returned to the penthouse. He looked exhausted, the dark circles under his eyes prominent, but the lethal tension in his shoulders was finally gone.
Lily ran to him, and he swung her up in the air. Over his daughter's shoulder, his eyes locked onto Beatrice.
That night, after Lily was asleep, Leo poured two glasses of wine and walked out onto the balcony where Beatrice was watching the city lights.
"It's over," he said, handing her a glass. "The estate is being repaired. We can go home next week."

"Home," Beatrice tasted the word. "Mr. Rossi... Leo. What happens now? I can't go back to being a maid. Not after this."
"You were never going back to being a maid," Leo said firmly. He stepped closer, boxing her in against the railing with his warm, powerful frame. "I want you by my side. Not as an employee. As my partner."
