Beatrice looked down at her hands. "Leo, look at me. Look at the world you live in. The women in your circle are supermodels and heiresses. I'm just... me. They'll tear us apart."
Leo reached out, lifting her chin so she was forced to meet his gaze. His eyes were blazing with a fierce, uncompromising fire.

"Let them try," he growled softly. "They are nothing but empty shells. You have more courage, more heart, and more beauty in a single breath than any of them have in their entire lifetimes. You took a bullet for my child. You killed a man for my child. You think I care about high-society gossip?"
He pulled her flush against his chest, sliding his hands around her waist, completely unfazed by the curves she had spent her life trying to hide. "I am a very dangerous man, Beatrice. And I protect what is mine. You are mine."
