Chapter 16 - Sealing the Door
Arthur knew the creature would try to follow them into the real world. He scrambled to his feet, grabbing a handful of iron nails from his pocket. He slammed the heavy wooden door shut, ignoring the frantic pounding from the other side. Using his crowbar as a hammer, he drove the first iron nail deep into the door frame. The pounding stopped for a second, replaced by a terrible, unearthly screech. Arthur drove another nail into the opposite corner, sealing the top of the door. He worked quickly, placing a nail in every corner while reciting a protective prayer. With the final nail in place, the violent shaking of the door instantly ceased. He poured a thick line of rock salt across the bottom threshold, creating a permanent barrier. The house suddenly felt lighter, as if a massive weight had been lifted from its foundation. The evil was finally locked away.
