Chapter 3 - The Police Arrive
The flashing red and blue lights illuminated Arthur’s driveway. Two police officers stood by the front porch, taking notes on a small pad. Arthur wrapped a warm blanket around Lily, who was sitting quietly in the back of an ambulance. He explained everything to the officers, from the strange note to the terrifying sounds upstairs. The officers exchanged skeptical glances, clearly doubting the old man's supernatural claims. They drew their flashlights and entered the dark house, their heavy boots echoing on the hardwood. Ten agonizing minutes passed before they finally emerged from the front door. The lead officer shook his head, looking completely bewildered. There was no one inside the house, and the closet was completely empty. Mason was nowhere to be found, leaving behind only the mysterious warning note. Arthur knew the police could not help them now.
