Chapter 20 - The Final Secret
Later that night, the cabin was quiet as everyone slept soundly. Arthur sat in his armchair, reading an old book by the light of a small lamp. He heard a soft rustling sound coming from Mason’s jacket, which was hung by the door. Curiosity got the better of him, and he walked over to inspect the coat. Inside the pocket, he found a crumpled, dirty piece of paper. He smoothed it out under the lamp, his blood running completely cold. It was a new note, written in the same jagged, frantic handwriting as the first one. It read, "You left me behind, Grandpa." Arthur stared at the note, his hands trembling violently. He looked toward the stairs, wondering exactly what he had brought back from the dark realm. The grandfather clock chimed midnight, echoing ominously through the silent cabin. THE END
