Chapter 4 - The Hidden Truth

Back at Arthur’s secluded cabin in the woods, the silence felt heavy and oppressive. Lily sat by the fireplace, staring blankly into the dancing orange flames. Arthur handed her a mug of hot cocoa, hoping to bring some warmth back to her pale cheeks. He gently asked her what had happened before he arrived at the house. Lily took a deep breath, her small hands shaking around the warm mug. She explained that Mason had been acting strange for weeks, constantly talking to the walls. He claimed that a voice in the closet knew secrets about their family’s past. The voice promised him power, but it demanded something in return. Mason had locked himself inside to confront the entity, slipping that warning note under the door. Lily had tried to stop him, but an invisible force had pushed her down, bruising her forehead. The monster had taken Mason, and it was still hungry.
