Chapter 15 - The UltimatumThat night, the penthouse was quiet.

Leo was fast asleep in his crib. Rain lashed against the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting long shadows across the living room.

Khloe sat on the velvet sofa, a glass of red wine in her hand, celebrating her massive corporate victory. Marcus sat in the armchair opposite her. He had been quiet since they returned from the hotel.

"What's on your mind?" Khloe asked, noticing the serious set of his jaw.

Marcus leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a thick manila envelope. He placed it on the coffee table between them.

"What is that?" Khloe asked, her guard instantly going up.

"It's a choice," Marcus said softly.

He opened the envelope and slid the documents across the glass table. Khloe looked down. Her breath caught in her throat.

Petition for Dissolution of Marriage.

Divorce papers.

Khloe looked up, her heart suddenly pounding in her chest. "Marcus... what is this?"

"I signed them already," Marcus said, pointing to his bold signature at the bottom of the last page. "I waived the prenuptial agreement. You get fifty percent of everything I own. You get primary custody of Leo. You get the houses, the jets, whatever you want."

"Why?" Khloe whispered, completely blindsided. "I thought... I thought we were doing better. You've been here every day."

"We are doing better," Marcus said, his voice thick with emotion. "But I realized something today, watching you on that stage. You are powerful, Khloe. You are brilliant. And for the first year of our marriage, I made you feel small. I made you feel trapped in a gilded cage with people who wanted to hurt you."

He stood up, walking around the table until he was kneeling in front of her. He didn't touch her, but he looked up into her eyes with raw, unfiltered vulnerability.

"I love you, Khloe. I am madly, deeply in love with you," Marcus vowed, a tear slipping down his rugged cheek. "But you only stayed with me because you got pregnant, and then you were too hurt to leave. I want you to be free. If looking at me still causes you pain, sign the papers. I will walk away, and I will never stop providing for you and Leo."

Khloe stared at the man kneeling before her. The arrogant billionaire who used to command rooms and ruin lives was offering her the ultimate weapon to destroy him, simply because he wanted her to be happy.

"And what if I don't sign them?" Khloe asked, her voice trembling.

Marcus’s eyes darkened, a fierce, primal devotion burning in his gaze. "If you don't sign them... I will spend the next fifty years proving to you that I am a man worthy of standing beside you. I will worship the ground you walk on. I will be the shield that protects you, and the husband you deserve."

Khloe looked down at the divorce papers. Then, she looked at Marcus. The resentment that had poisoned her heart for months had finally, truly, burned away. He wasn't the man who let Isabella Rossi hurt her anymore. He was a new man. A father. A true partner.

Slowly, Khloe reached out. She picked up the thick stack of legal documents.

She held Marcus's gaze as she deliberately ripped the papers in half.

Marcus let out a ragged gasp. He grabbed her hands, pressing his face into her palms, kissing her skin as if she were a lifeline.

"Show me," Khloe whispered, sliding from the couch to kneel on the floor right beside him. "Show me the husband I deserve."

Marcus wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest, and buried his face in her neck. "Every single day, my queen. Every single day."
