Chapter 2 - The Face of Ruin"Marcus..." Isabella whispered, taking a panicked step backward toward the door. The performance was over. The tears evaporated, replaced by genuine, unfiltered terror.

She had checked the room. There were no cameras on the ceiling. She was sure of it.
"They were hidden in the smoke detectors, Ms. Rossi," Richard said coldly, reading her mind as he applied pressure to Khloe's side. "A new security upgrade for the VIP wing. Installed yesterday."
Marcus stood up. He didn't rush at her. He didn't scream. That was what made it so terrifying. He moved with the slow, calculated precision of a predator that had cornered its prey.
"Marcus, please, let me explain," Isabella stammered, her back hitting the doorframe. "You don't understand what she said to me! She provoked me! She threatened the merger between our families—"
"You kicked her," Marcus said, his voice dangerously soft.
"I—I lost my temper! It was an accident!"
"You aimed for my child." Marcus took another step, trapping her against the heavy mahogany door. The sheer physical presence of the 6-foot-2 billionaire was suffocating. "You came into my hospital. You assaulted my wife. You tried to murder my heir."
"No! Marcus, we belong together! You know that!" Isabella shrieked, desperation tearing away her mask. "She’s nothing but a gold-digger! She doesn’t belong in our world! I was doing you a favor!"
A loud clamor interrupted the confrontation. Two trauma nurses and a doctor rushed into the suite with a gurney, instantly swarming Khloe.
"BP is dropping!" one of the nurses shouted. "We have maternal bleeding. Fetal heart rate is in distress. We need to move her to the OR, now!"
Marcus whipped his head around, his heart stopping at the words fetal distress. "Do whatever it takes! Save them both!"
"We’re moving!" the doctor yelled.
As they lifted Khloe onto the gurney, Khloe’s hand slipped off her stomach. Marcus caught it. Her fingers were freezing.
"Marcus..." she breathed, a tear sliding down her temple.
"I'm here, Khloe. I'm right here," he promised, his voice breaking.
"If I lose this baby..." she whispered, her eyes burning with a sudden, fierce clarity that pierced right through his soul. "...I will never look at you again."
The words struck him like a physical blow. He let go of her hand as they rushed the gurney down the hall, the flashing lights of the medical equipment disappearing around the corner. Khloe blamed him. And why shouldn't she? For months, he had tolerated Isabella's presence, dismissing Khloe's complaints as jealousy, prioritizing the billion-dollar Rossi merger over his wife's comfort.
He had brought the snake into their home.
"Marcus..." Isabella whimpered from the doorway, trying to sneak out while he was distracted.
Before she could take two steps, a heavy hand clamped down on her shoulder. Two uniform police officers, flanked by hospital security guards, stood in the hallway.
"Isabella Rossi?" the lead officer asked, pulling out a pair of steel handcuffs. "You are under arrest for aggravated assault and attempted fetal homicide."
Isabella went feral. The poised socialite vanished, replaced by a screaming banshee. "Get your hands off me! Do you know who my father is?! I’ll have your badges! I’ll buy this entire precinct! Marcus, tell them! Tell them to let me go!"
Marcus walked out of the suite, stopping just inches from her face. She looked up at him, a desperate, pathetic hope in her eyes.
"Your father can't save you," Marcus whispered coldly. "By the time the sun comes up, your family's stock will be in ashes. I will buy your father's company, I will dismantle it piece by piece, and I will make sure you spend the best years of your life rotting in a concrete box."

He nodded to the officers. "Get this trash out of my sight."
Isabella's screams echoed down the corridor as she was dragged away, the crystal chandelier above mocking the total ruin of her glamorous life.
