Chapter 19 - The VowsThe Amalfi Coast of Italy was painted in hues of gold and sapphire as the sun began to set over the Mediterranean Sea.

Khloe and Marcus hadn't invited the press. They hadn't invited the Wall Street elite.

Standing on the terrace of a private cliffside villa, surrounded by thousands of white roses, they were doing something they should have done three years ago.

They were getting married for the right reasons.

Uncle Richard sat in the front row, dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief. Khloe’s parents held hands, beaming with pride. And running down the aisle, clutching a velvet ring box with terrifying speed, was three-year-old Leo.

"I got it, Mommy!" Leo cheered, crashing into Marcus’s legs.

Marcus laughed, sweeping his son up into his arms and kissing his cheek before taking the rings. "Good job, buddy. Go sit with Uncle Rick."

Marcus turned back to Khloe. She was wearing a simple, breathtaking white silk slip dress that flowed in the ocean breeze. She looked like an angel.

"Three years ago, I married you because it made sense on paper," Marcus began, his voice thick with emotion, ignoring the officiant completely. "I was a fool who thought money and power were the only things that mattered. I thought I was protecting you by building walls around you."

He took her hands, his thumbs gently stroking her knuckles.

"But you didn't need walls. You needed a partner," Marcus vowed, tears shining in his dark eyes. "You broke me down, Khloe. You taught me how to love. You gave me a son who is the light of my life. You are my equal, my queen, and my very soul. I promise to spend every second of the rest of my life standing beside you, fighting for you, and loving you."

Khloe’s vision blurred with happy tears. She squeezed his hands, her heart overflowing.

"When I met you, you were the coldest man in New York," Khloe whispered, a watery laugh escaping her. "You broke my heart, Marcus. But you also put it back together, piece by piece. You showed me that real strength isn't about never making a mistake. It's about having the courage to change."

She looked into his eyes, seeing the absolute, undeniable devotion burning within them.

"I love you, Marcus Thorne. Not for your money, not for your name, but for the man you chose to become for me. Forever."

Marcus slipped the diamond band onto her finger. The officiant smiled. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Again. You may kiss the bride."

Marcus didn't hesitate. He pulled Khloe against his chest, dipping her slightly, and kissed her with a fierce, passionate desperation that stole the breath from her lungs. The small crowd erupted into cheers.
