Chapter 5 - The Viral FalloutBy 6:00 AM, the sun was just beginning to rise over the Manhattan skyline.

But the internet was already on fire.

Isabella Rossi’s father, the powerful media mogul Vincenzo Rossi, had pulled every string, called in every favor, and spent a small fortune in bribes to get his daughter released on a multi-million dollar bail before the morning news cycle began. He had hired crisis PR firms to spin a story about Khloe having a "mental breakdown" and Isabella acting in self-defense.

Vincenzo had underestimated one thing: Uncle Richard’s wrath.

Before Isabella had even stepped out of the police precinct, someone—a highly untraceable source operating from an encrypted server—had leaked the raw, unedited VIP security footage to every major news outlet, gossip blog, and social media platform on the internet.

The video wasn’t just a scandal. It was a massacre.

The title trended at number one globally on X, TikTok, and Facebook within minutes: "BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS KICKS PREGNANT WOMAN."

Isabella sat in the back of her father’s bulletproof Maybach, clutching a cup of coffee, her hands shaking violently. She scrolled through her phone, watching in horror as her life went up in flames.

Millions of views. Hundreds of thousands of comments.

“Did you see her face? Pure evil! Lock her up!”

“I can’t believe she tried to claim self-defense. That was attempted murder on a baby!”

“Cancel the Rossi family! Boycott Rossi Media!”

"Turn it off, Isabella," Vincenzo barked from the seat across from her. His face was purple with rage. "You stupid, arrogant girl. Do you know what you’ve done?"

"Papa, she provoked me!" Isabella sobbed, playing the victim even to her own father. "She was trying to steal Marcus away from our families' alliance!"

"She is his WIFE!" Vincenzo roared, slamming his fist against the leather armrest. "And now Marcus Thorne has pulled out of the merger. Not only that, he’s initiated a hostile takeover. Our stocks dropped thirty percent in the pre-market! We are hemorrhaging millions by the second!"

"Marcus will calm down," Isabella said desperately. "He’s just emotional right now. Once the baby is born, he'll see—"

"There is no calming down!" Vincenzo grabbed his daughter’s phone and threw it to the floor of the car. "Thorne’s lawyers have already filed a civil suit against you for fifty million dollars. The District Attorney is upgrading your charges from assault to attempted manslaughter because of the public pressure! The internet wants your head on a spike!"

Isabella sank back into the plush leather, her chest heaving. The reality was finally setting in. She wasn't untouchable anymore. The pristine armor of her wealth had been shattered by a single, undeniable video.

But as the fear washed over her, something darker began to bubble beneath it.

Toxic, venomous resentment.

It was Khloe’s fault. If Khloe hadn't refused to back down, if she had just miscarried quietly in her home, none of this would be happening. Isabella refused to believe she was the villain in her own story. In her twisted mind, she was the rightful queen of New York society, and Khloe was the peasant who stole her throne.

"Papa," Isabella whispered, her tears drying up as a cold, psychotic calm washed over her. "We can't let them destroy us. If Marcus wants war, we give him war."

Vincenzo looked at his daughter, unsettled by the sudden shift in her demeanor. "What are you talking about?"

"Khloe's family isn't rich. They own that pathetic chain of boutique hotels on the West Coast," Isabella said, a cruel smirk playing on her lips. "If Khloe refuses to drop the charges, we destroy her family’s livelihood. We use our media empire to run smear campaigns. We bankrupt them. We squeeze her until she has no choice but to beg Marcus to back off."

Vincenzo narrowed his eyes, calculating the risk. It was dirty. It was illegal. It was highly dangerous to poke the bear that was Marcus Thorne.

But Vincenzo didn't become a billionaire by playing nice. "It will take time to orchestrate without Thorne noticing."

"We have time," Isabella said, staring out the tinted window at the passing city. "She's trapped in a hospital bed. She's weak. And by the time she gets out, she won't have a family legacy left to return to."

Little did Isabella know, Khloe Thorne was far from weak.

And a mother fighting for her child’s survival was infinitely more dangerous than a spoiled heiress throwing a tantrum. The war for New York had just begun.

Here are chapters 6 through 10, continuing the intense drama, fast pacing, and emotional revenge arcs that dominate American web novels. I have expanded the plot to showcase Khloe’s hidden strengths and Marcus’s ruthless redemption.
