Chapter 4 - The Corporate SlaughterThe glass walls of the Villaseñor Enterprises boardroom offered a panoramic view of the Mexico City skyline, but inside, the atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.

It was 2:00 PM. Just four hours after Paulina had been thrown out of the mansion.
Diego sat at the head of the massive mahogany table, his posture relaxed, his dark eyes terrifyingly calm. Flanking him were his top executives and lead attorneys, all sweating under their expensive bespoke suits.
At the opposite end of the table stood Alejandro Robles.
Paulina’s father was purple with rage, slamming his fist onto the polished wood.
"You think you can humiliate my daughter and walk away unscathed, Villaseñor?" Alejandro roared, his voice cracking with fury. "We had a merger! An alliance! My family’s influence built half of your new developments in Santa Fe. You cancel this wedding for some filthy housekeeper, and I swear to God, I will pull my investments. I will crash your stock by morning!"
The board members shifted nervously. Alejandro wasn't entirely bluffing. The Robles family held significant leverage in the upcoming Santa Fe hotel expansion. A sudden withdrawal would cost Villaseñor Enterprises hundreds of millions.
Diego didn't blink. He reached forward and slowly poured himself a glass of sparkling water.
He took a sip, set the glass down, and leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table.
"Are you finished, Alejandro?" Diego asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
The quiet tone sent a chill down the spine of every man in the room. This was the voice Diego used right before he ended someone's career.
"I am just getting started!" Alejandro sneered. "By tomorrow, the press will know exactly what kind of degenerate you are. Choosing a literal peasant over my Paulina. You’re pathetic."
Diego signaled to his lead attorney with a microscopic nod of his head.
The lawyer immediately opened a thick leather folder and slid a stack of documents down the length of the table. They stopped right in front of Alejandro.
"What is this?" Alejandro snapped, eyeing the papers like they were venomous.
"That," Diego said, his voice dripping with ice, "is the complete acquisition of Robles Enterprises. I bought your debt, Alejandro. All of it."
Alejandro’s face drained of color. He snatched the papers, his eyes darting frantically over the ink. "This... this is impossible. You couldn't have done this in four hours!"
"I am a Villaseñor," Diego stated, leaning back in his leather chair. "I can buy the air you breathe if it pleases me. You leveraged your entire company to finance those offshore accounts. Accounts my private investigators have been tracking for months, just in case you ever became a nuisance."
The room fell dead silent. You could hear a pin drop.
"If you ever say another word about the woman I love," Diego continued, his eyes locking onto Alejandro like a predator sizing up its prey, "I will hand these files over to federal prosecutors. You won't just lose your company. You will spend the next twenty years in a federal prison, and your precious daughter will have to learn how to scrub floors to pay for her own meals."
Alejandro began to tremble. The blustering, powerful tycoon was suddenly reduced to a terrified old man.
"Diego... please. We are family—"
"We are nothing," Diego interrupted, standing up and buttoning his suit jacket. "The merger is canceled. Your shares are liquid. If you or Paulina come within a hundred miles of my family again, I will ruin you. Get out of my building."
Alejandro practically ran for the doors.
Diego turned to his stunned board of directors. "Gentlemen, effective immediately, I am transferring twenty percent of my personal equity into a blind trust."

The Chief Financial Officer choked on his breath. "Sir? A trust for who?"
"For my daughter," Diego said, a faint, genuine smile touching his lips for the first time in four years. "Valentina Villaseñor. The sole heir to this empire. Meeting adjourned."
