Chapter 6 - The Return of the ViperThe peace lasted exactly twenty-four hours.

The next afternoon, Diego had to leave for an emergency press conference to address the sudden "restructuring" of the Robles merger. He promised he would be gone for no more than two hours.
Marisol was sitting in the sunroom, watching Valentina play with her new custom-made dollhouse, when the heavy front doors of the mansion burst open.
"Where is she?!" a shrill, aristocratic voice shrieked, echoing off the marble floors. "Where is the filthy little gold digger who brainwashed my son?!"
Marisol’s blood ran cold. She knew that voice.
It was the voice that haunted her nightmares.
Elena Villaseñor. Diego’s mother. The matriarch of the family. The woman who had ordered security to throw Marisol into the gutter four years ago.
Esteban, the head butler, rushed backward into the sunroom, looking panicked. "Señora Elena, please, you cannot just barge in here. Señor Diego gave explicit orders—"
"I am his mother!" Elena snapped, swatting Esteban away with her designer handbag. "I own this family! Now get out of my way before I have you fired!"
Elena marched into the sunroom. She was a striking, terrifying woman in her late sixties, dressed in a sharp white Chanel suit, dripping in pearls. Her face was pulled tight with fury.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Marisol.
Elena looked her up and down, taking in the designer dress, the flawless makeup, and the absolute transformation. For a split second, shock flashed in Elena’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced by pure, unadulterated hatred.
"So, it’s true," Elena hissed, stepping closer. "The little rat crawled back out of the sewers."
Marisol stood up. Her instinct was to cower. Her instinct was to apologize and run.
But then she felt a tiny hand grab the fabric of her dress. Valentina was hiding behind her legs, trembling.
The mother-bear instinct overrode years of trauma. Marisol stood taller, lifting her chin.
"This is my home now, Doña Elena," Marisol said, her voice shaking only slightly. "You should not be here without an invitation."
Elena let out a sharp, cruel laugh. "Your home? You delusional piece of trash. Do you really think my son loves you? He pities you. He found his bastard child living in a laundry room and felt guilty. That is all."
Marisol flinched, the words cutting deep.
"He is a billionaire," Elena sneered, closing the distance until she was right in Marisol’s face. "He needs a wife who can navigate high society, host galas, and speak to presidents. You don't even know which fork to use at a dinner party. You will embarrass him. You will ruin his reputation."
"Leave my mama alone!"
Valentina’s tiny voice piped up. She stepped out from behind Marisol, glaring up at the terrifying woman with her stuffed rabbit clutched to her chest.
Elena looked down at the three-year-old. Her own granddaughter. Her own flesh and blood.
And her lip curled in disgust.
"Disgusting," Elena spat. "A little street urchin parading around in my house. You are a stain on the Villaseñor name. Both of you."
Elena raised her hand, fully intending to slap the terrified three-year-old.
Marisol gasped, lunging forward to take the blow.
But the slap never landed.

A massive hand shot out of nowhere, wrapping around Elena’s wrist with bone-crushing force.
"If you touch my daughter," a low, demonic voice echoed through the room, "I will rip your arm from its socket."
