Chapter 6 - THE HIDDEN FILE
Daniel returned to Amelia's room.
He didn't mention Victoria's warning.
Instead, he called the security manager.
“Find every deleted recording.”
“We're already trying.”
“Don't try.”
Daniel's voice was cold.
“Find them.”
Two hours later, the security manager arrived.
He handed Daniel a laptop.
“We recovered one file.”
Daniel opened it.
The footage showed the villa hallway three nights earlier.
Victoria entered.
But she wasn't alone.
A man followed her.
Daniel didn't recognize him.
They entered a study.
The camera could not capture their conversation.
Daniel watched carefully.
The man handed Victoria an envelope.
Then Victoria gave him something.
A small USB drive.
Daniel paused the footage.
“Who is he?”
The security manager shook his head.
“We're still identifying him.”
Daniel zoomed in.
The man turned slightly.
Daniel recognized him.
Marcus Vale.
Victoria's brother.
Daniel immediately understood that this was not a simple rivalry.
He called an investigator.
“I need everything on Marcus Vale.”
Within an hour, the report arrived.
Marcus had a history of financial fraud.
He had recently lost millions.
And three months earlier, he had made several large transfers connected to a company Daniel had never heard of.
One name appeared repeatedly.
Carter Holdings.
Daniel stared at the screen.
Someone had been stealing from him.
Maybe for years.
Then Amelia spoke from the bed.
“Daniel.”
He looked up.
“What?”
She hesitated.
“I know that name.”
“Marcus?”
“No.”
She pointed to the report.
“That company.”
Daniel walked closer.
“Where have you seen it?”
“In the messages.”
Daniel's expression changed.
“The threats?”
She nodded.
“The person sending them used that company name.”
Daniel looked at the screen.
The pieces were beginning to connect.
Victoria had attacked Amelia.
Marcus was meeting Victoria secretly.
Someone had been threatening Amelia.
And someone had been stealing from Daniel.
But there was still one question.
Why?
Daniel turned to Amelia.
“We're going to find out.”
She reached for his hand.
“Together?”
He nodded.
“Together.”

But neither of them knew that someone outside the hospital was watching their room.
