Chapter 12: The Enemy Wearing a Friendly Face

Chapter 12: The Enemy Wearing a Friendly Face

The next morning, Alexander called an emergency meeting.

Nobody inside Carver International knew why.

They only knew one thing.

The CEO had never looked more serious.

Executives entered the boardroom quietly.

Hannah sat beside Alexander.

Not hidden.

Not introduced as someone unimportant.

Everyone knew now.

She was his wife.

And she was part of this fight.

Michael placed documents on the table.

“We reviewed the old financial records.”

One executive looked confused.

“What exactly are we investigating?”

Alexander answered coldly.

“A betrayal that started thirty years ago.”

The room became silent.

Then the doors opened.

A familiar voice interrupted.

“Alexander.”

Everyone turned.

It was Richard Whitlock.

Claire’s father.

The man they had been searching for.

He entered calmly, wearing an expensive suit and a confident smile.

“I heard you were asking questions.”

Alexander stared at him.

“You should know better than to walk into my company.”

Richard smiled.

“This company?”

He looked around.

“You still believe it belongs to you?”

Hannah felt anger rise inside her.

Richard noticed her.

“Ah.”

He smiled.

“The daughter of the man who ruined everything.”

Alexander immediately stood.

“Watch your words.”

Richard laughed.

“You still don’t know, do you?”

He looked at Alexander.

“Your father didn’t build this empire alone.”

A pause.

“He stole half of it.”

Nobody moved.

Alexander’s eyes narrowed.

“You’re lying.”

Richard shrugged.

“Am I?”

He placed a document on the table.

A copy of an old agreement.

“Your father signed this.”

Michael grabbed it.

His expression changed.

“What is it?”

“A transfer agreement.”

Richard smiled.

“Your father transferred ownership of the original company.”

Hannah looked closer.

Then her heart stopped.

Because the signature was real.

But something was wrong.

“This signature is fake.”

Everyone looked at her.

Richard smiled.

“How would you know?”

Hannah pointed.

“My father never signed with his right hand.”

Silence.

Michael checked the document.

“She’s right.”

Richard’s smile disappeared.

For the first time…

He looked nervous.

Alexander noticed.

“You made a mistake.”

Richard stepped back.

Because he realized something.

Hannah wasn’t just someone who knew the past.

She was the person who could destroy his future.

Then Richard said something unexpected.

“You think Claire is your enemy?”

Everyone froze.

“She isn’t.”

Hannah stared at him.

“What are you talking about?”

Richard smiled.

“Claire was only following orders.”

Alexander’s expression changed.

“Whose orders?”

Richard looked toward the window.

May you like

Then answered:

“Someone much closer than you think.”
