Chapter 13: Claire’s Final Confession

Chapter 13: Claire’s Final Confession

Claire Whitlock sat alone in a private room at the Carver Estate.

For the first time in her life…

She had nothing.

No audience.

No admiration.

No control.

Only silence.

When Hannah entered, Claire looked up.

“You came to celebrate?”

Hannah shook her head.

“No.”

“Then why?”

“Because I want the truth.”

Claire laughed.

“You already have it.”

“No.”

Hannah sat across from her.

“I have pieces.”

A pause.

“I want the whole story.”

Claire looked away.

For several seconds, neither woman spoke.

Then Claire whispered:

“My father always told me one thing.”

Hannah waited.

“He said the Carvers stole everything from us.”

She laughed bitterly.

“I grew up believing Alexander owed us.”

Hannah watched her carefully.

“But?”

Claire’s eyes filled with anger.

“But then I met him.”

A painful smile appeared.

“And I realized he wasn’t the monster my father described.”

She looked down.

“I actually loved him.”

Hannah remained silent.

Claire continued.

“But my father never cared about love.”

Her voice became colder.

“He cared about power.”

She revealed the truth.

Richard had manipulated her.

He convinced her that marrying Alexander would give their family control over Carver Industries.

He told her Hannah was a threat.

He told her destroying Hannah was necessary.

“I thought I was protecting my family.”

Claire looked at Hannah.

“But I became exactly like him.”

Hannah didn’t defend her.

But she understood.

A person could be manipulated.

But choices still mattered.

“Who else was involved?”

Claire hesitated.

Then whispered:

“The person who planned everything.”

Hannah leaned forward.

“Who?”

Claire looked toward the door.

Her expression changed.

Fear returned.

“Alexander’s uncle.”

Hannah froze.

“What?”

Claire nodded.

“Your entire family war…”

She swallowed.

“It started because two powerful men wanted the same thing.”

She looked at Hannah.

“Control.”

Before Hannah could respond, the lights suddenly went out.

A loud crash came from outside.

Then the sound of breaking glass.

Security alarms exploded.

Alexander rushed into the room.

“Hannah!”

She stood immediately.

“What happened?”

His face was tense.

“Someone attacked the estate.”

Claire looked terrified.

Because she knew something Hannah didn’t.

“They’re not here for you.”

Everyone looked at her.

“They’re here for me.”

A shadow moved outside the window.

Then a voice echoed through the mansion.

“You should have stayed silent, Claire.”

Everyone froze.

Because they recognized the voice.

May you like

The person standing outside…

Was the one person they never expected.
