Chapter 14: The Man Behind The Shadow

Chapter 14: The Man Behind The Shadow

The sound of shattered glass echoed through the Carver Estate.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

The security alarms screamed through the mansion.

Guards rushed through the corridors.

But inside the private room, everyone remained frozen.

Because they all knew that voice.

The voice that had just spoken from the darkness.

Alexander slowly stepped in front of Hannah.

His body became a shield.

“Stay behind me.”

But Hannah didn’t move back.

Not this time.

She had spent years running from the past.

She had spent years hiding her father’s name.

She had spent years believing silence could keep her safe.

It couldn’t.

A figure appeared at the entrance.

An older man.

Calm.

Confident.

Wearing a perfectly tailored suit.

Alexander’s face changed.

“Uncle Victor.”

The room went silent.

Victor Carver smiled.

“Hello, Alexander.”

Hannah stared at him.

The missing piece.

The person who had been hiding behind everything.

The person nobody suspected.

Victor walked slowly into the room.

“I suppose I owe everyone an explanation.”

Alexander’s eyes were cold.

“You were involved.”

Victor looked disappointed.

“Such a simple conclusion.”

“You accessed our archives.”

“Yes.”

“You deleted evidence.”

“Yes.”

“You worked with Richard Whitlock.”

Victor smiled.

“I worked with many people.”

Hannah stepped forward.

“Why?”

Victor looked at her.

For a moment, his expression changed.

“You are exactly like your father.”

Hannah’s eyes narrowed.

“You knew him?”

Victor laughed softly.

“Of course.”

He walked toward the table.

“Your father was brilliant.”

A pause.

“That was his problem.”

Alexander clenched his jaw.

“Explain.”

Victor looked at him.

“Your father and Hannah’s father created something extraordinary.”

He touched the old documents.

“But they were too idealistic.”

Hannah stared.

“You wanted their company.”

Victor nodded.

“I wanted what they built.”

His honesty was terrifying.

“Power belongs to those willing to take it.”

Alexander shook his head.

“So you destroyed two families?”

Victor smiled.

“No.”

He corrected.

“I saved one.”

Alexander looked disgusted.

“You call this saving?”

Victor looked around.

“Look at this empire.”

He spread his arms.

“The Carver name is stronger than ever.”

Hannah stepped closer.

“And how many people did you destroy to build it?”

Victor’s smile disappeared.

“Your father was weak.”

The words hit her.

“He cared about morality.”

Victor looked at her.

“Morality does not build empires.”

Alexander’s voice became dangerous.

“No.”

He stared at his uncle.

“People do.”

A long silence followed.

Then Victor pulled out a small device.

Everyone froze.

“What is that?”

Victor smiled.

“The final insurance.”

He pressed a button.

The mansion lights flickered.

Michael checked his phone.

His face turned pale.

“Alexander…”

“What?”

“The company systems are being accessed.”

Victor smiled.

“Everything your father built.”

A pause.

“Everything you own.”

May you like

His eyes moved to Hannah.

“Will belong to me.”
