Claire collapsed instantly like a marionette with its strings cut, dropping the gun to the floor. Marcus spun around in absolute shock, and Nathan took his only chance. He drove his elbow fiercely into Marcus’s windpipe, grabbed a heavy marble bookend from the executive desk, and brought it down hard on the back of the security chief's neck. Marcus slumped forward onto the Persian rug, out cold.

Maria dropped down from the ductwork, her uniform torn and covered in dust, immediately scooping up a crying Lily into a fierce embrace.

Nathan rushed back to the terminal. The loading bar was at 90%. He didn't cancel the transfer. Instead, he rapidly rerouted it. With a few desperate keystrokes, the $50 million offshore fund was frozen and flagged directly to the FBI’s cyber-crimes division. He attached Claire’s digital signature and the Cayman routing numbers to a confession protocol.

“It’s over,” Nathan breathed, leaning heavily against the desk, his chest heaving. “It's finally over.”
