Chapter 2 - The Confession

Mark collapsed onto the edge of the plush king bed. He rubbed his face and let out a heavy sigh of defeat. His father was the head of a powerful corporate syndicate. The marriage was never about love or building a life together. It was a calculated merger designed to absorb her family wealth. His father demanded total control over her assets and her freedom. The plan was to break her spirit during this secluded honeymoon. Mark was supposed to use fear to establish his dominance. Sarah listened to his pathetic explanation with growing disgust. She could not believe she had fallen for his charming facade. The romantic dinners and sweet promises were all just a strategic trap. She felt a brief flash of heartbreak before her training took over. Emotions were a liability in the middle of a hostile situation. She asked Mark how many of his father's men were on the ship. Mark hesitated for a moment before looking away. Sarah slammed the bat into the bedside table to get his attention. He flinched and confessed that four armed guards were outside.
