Chapter 4 - Tactical Assessment

Her eyes landed on the complimentary champagne bucket. The thick glass bottles could be broken to create dangerous edges. She grabbed a bottle and wrapped the base in a thick white towel. She struck it against the marble counter to shatter the bottom. Now she had a jagged glass weapon in her left hand. She kept the metal bat firmly gripped in her right hand. Her silk dress was too restrictive for a serious physical altercation. She quickly tore the slit of her dress higher to free her legs. She kicked off her expensive heels and stood barefoot on the carpet. Her mind entered the familiar zone of a combat operation. The cruise ship was a massive labyrinth of corridors and decks. Her primary objective was to reach the emergency communication room. She needed to send a distress signal to the United States Coast Guard. She took a deep breath and calmed her racing heart. The handle of the cabin door suddenly began to jiggle. The mercenaries had grown tired of waiting for their boss. Sarah positioned herself flat against the wall beside the entrance.
