Chapter 10 - The Hidden Cameras
Jessica had a surprise piece of evidence for the court. Before Eleanor fled the house she had installed a nanny camera. She had hidden it inside a stuffed bear in the living room. She had totally forgotten about it until the shelter social worker asked about cameras. Jessica submitted the video files to the strict judge. The video showed Beatrice physically pushing Eleanor into a wall. It also showed Mark watching the assault while drinking a beer. The visual evidence was absolutely undeniable. Mark's lawyer looked down at his notes in defeat. Mark stood up and yelled that the video was fake. The judge banged his gavel and ordered Mark to sit down. Beatrice who was sitting in the gallery started to cry loudly. The bailiff escorted Beatrice out of the courtroom. Eleanor felt a surge of triumph wash over her. The shadows of her home were now exposed to the light.
