Chapter 20 - The Future

Five years had passed since the worst day of Eleanor's life. Her daughter was now a smart and happy little girl starting kindergarten. Eleanor stood at the bus stop and held her small hand. The yellow school bus pulled up and opened its doors. Her daughter hugged her tight and ran up the heavy steps. Eleanor waved goodbye with a massive smile on her face. She had protected this child from a life of misery and fear. She had broken the cycle of abuse with unbelievable courage. She looked forward to watching her daughter grow into a strong woman. Mark and Beatrice were still rotting away in their prison cells. They were nothing but a distant and faded bad memory. Eleanor walked back to her house ready to start her busy workday. She was a survivor and a warrior in every sense of the word. Her future was brighter than she could have ever imagined. The darkness was completely gone forever.
