Chapter 19 - Peace at Last
The anniversary of the terrifying hospital visit finally arrived. Eleanor did not feel sad or panicked on this specific day. Instead she felt completely overwhelmed with immense gratitude. She drove to the police station and brought a box of donuts. She asked to see Officer Davis who had saved her that day. The officer smiled brightly when she saw Eleanor and the growing toddler. They hugged and shared a cup of hot coffee together. Eleanor thanked her for turning on the body camera and listening. Officer Davis told Eleanor that she was a hero for speaking up. Walking out of the station Eleanor looked up at the blue sky. The heavy chains of her dark past were completely broken. She drove back to her peaceful and sunny little apartment. She picked up her daughter and danced around the living room. The house was filled with joy and absolute pure love. They were perfectly safe.
