Chapter 17 - A New Beginning
Eleanor decided it was time to start planning for her future. She enrolled in online classes to finish her accounting degree. She studied late at night while her baby slept safely nearby. During the day she took long walks in the local park. She made new friends with other mothers at the playground. She never talked about the nightmare she had barely escaped. She only focused on the positive things that were happening now. Her daughter was growing fast and learning how to crawl. Eleanor felt a deep sense of pride every time she looked at her. She had fought a brutal war to protect this innocent life. Every happy moment felt like a massive victory against her abusers. She was no longer a terrified victim trapped in a basement. She was a strong and independent mother raising a wonderful child. The scars were healing and fading away with time. Her new life was simple but perfectly beautiful.
