Chapter 4 - The Interrogation
At the police station Mark sat in a cold interrogation room. Detective Miller walked in and threw a file on the table. Mark continued to play the role of a concerned husband. He lied and said Eleanor was mentally unstable and a danger to the baby. The detective played the audio recording from the phone. Mark's face turned red as his own threatening words filled the room. He tried to argue that the audio was taken out of context. Detective Miller simply smiled and took out a printed statement. It was a report from a neighbor who had heard the screaming. Mark realized his lies were completely falling apart. In the next room Beatrice was blaming everything on her son. They were turning on each other to save themselves. The detective warned Mark that he was facing serious charges. Mark finally asked for a lawyer and stopped talking. The truth was already solidly documented against them.
