Chapter 11 - The Desperate Move
That night Eleanor received a restricted phone call at the shelter. She answered it and heard Mark's chilling voice. He had illegally obtained the shelter's private phone number. He threatened to ruin her life if she did not drop the case. Eleanor did not panic and simply hung up the phone. She immediately reported the call to Sarah and the police. Detective Miller traced the call back to a burner phone. This violation of the restraining order was a massive mistake. The police issued a warrant for Mark's immediate arrest. They found him hiding at a cheap motel outside of town. Mark was dragged out of the room in handcuffs again. This time he would not be granted any bail. His desperate attempt to scare Eleanor had completely backfired. He was now locked in a jail cell where he belonged. Eleanor finally felt truly secure.
